One Is Never Undressed Or Overdressed In A Little Black Dress

|| Dress - Brandy Melville   Necklace - Topshop  ||

This dress was a Christmas present and ohmygosh I love it so much. It is so beautiful and fits like a dream and I want to wear it every day. The necklace was in my birthday haul and I loves it.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got loads of lovely presents! I finally got a Ukulele - woop woop! I'm still very bad (I can play a couple of chords but I'm struggling to get the strum right), but maybe if I get better, I'll record a bit for you. No promises though :)

Blog design is in process so please bear with. I'm getting there :)

The Christmas Tag 2.0

I did the Christmas tag last year, but looking back I didn't really like the questions. So I look around the interweb, combined a few different ones and ta-dah! Here is updated (and in my view nicer) version of the Christmas Tag x

Do you like to stay in your PJ’s, or dress up for Christmas?
I stay in my pj's for a bit but I do dress up a bit when I get dressed. I usually just wear a dress or something.
Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning. My family has never really opened any presents on Christmas Eve and I don't think many of my friends have. Is this more of a thing in the US?
What do you like to do on your Christmas break?
Honestly, just sleep and watch movies. Christmas, in my eyes, is a time to chill and be with your family and friends. But I do like to go Ice Skating at Hampton Court and see the lights in London. Those are 2 things we do most years
What’s your favourite Christmas meal or treat?
Mince Pies.
What’s your favourite holiday movie?
My all time favourite is Love Actually. I will watch it any time of year to be honest. My childhood favourite is The Polar Express but I also love Elf.
Candy Canes or Gingerbread Men?
Gingerbread Men. I love gingerbread so much. Whenever I get candy canes I just never seem eat them :(
Have you ever made a snowman?
YES! Last year I mad one taller than myself - see it here
Which do you like better, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Christmas Eve, and the Christmas build up in generally. I love the music, the lights, the shops,, wearing Christmas jumpers, just doing nothing and watching Christmas movies
White lights, or coloured lights?
Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, Vixen, Blitzen, Donner, Rudolph ....... have I made some of those up?
Real or Fake tree?
I would love real but fake
What would be you're dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Either New York or the Alps. I would love to go to New York and see the lights and Times Square at Christmas, and I've always wanted to go and spend Christmas in a the mountains and the snow and go skiing and that kind of thing :)

If you want to do this tag, I would love for you to so please let me know so I can take a look!

Lots of love
Helena xx
p.s Buttons are on my button swap page now. They may stay there, they may not. I'm not 100% sure if I like it yet :)

Wear Your Navy Stripes And Let Us Talk Of Paris

||| Top - Brandy Melville    Jeans - Topshop Jamie jeans   Coat - H&M   Scarf - Topshop   |||

Let's not even mention the lighting :) So I paid a second visit to Brandy a week and a bit ago and I picked up this lovely navy striped crop top and I thought I would share it with you all. The other clothes are wardrobe staples which I realised I hadn't shown you and I though overall the outfit looked pretty good.

Guys. Its December. ITS CHRISTMASSSS! So look forward to some festive posts :)

Have a good week
Helena xx

p.s I shot this at 8pm on a Thursday night with fairy lights on. I apologise for the appalling lighting. But you see what I'm getting at.

Currently I'm...

This post has been in my drafts for months and I finally decided I would finish and post it. I'm not sure where it came from but I've seen quite a lot of other bloggers do it and I loved reading them. So currently I'm......
The Mortal Instruments Series, specifically City Of Lost Souls. After City Of Fallen Angels, I took a break and read Allegiant and re-read Catching Fire (which I finished a few days ago) and now I am back to COLS. The blurb is really depressing so I am a little hesitant but I'm sure it will be brilliant like the others.
Atlantis, Big Bang Theory re-runs, and a lot of movies on TV. And The Day Of The Doctor, which was brilliant. In terms of new movies, Catching Fire. I'm trying to keep calm here.
Listening To:
Bonfire Heart By James Blunt and the usual Night Visions album by Imagine Dragons. Those on repeat. I haven't quite started Christmas music yet but it won't be long!
Tea. More like drowning in it. And the Christmas stuff at Costa.

CATCHING FIRE! Can we just take a minute to appreciate how perfect it is, I cannot contain my excitement any longer. I saw it on Friday and it is just ........ I have no words its so good. What else? I'm loving Tumblr (find me here) and also the colder weather. I've been loving wearing snuggly pyjamas and thick jumpers.

Christmas build up ;). I am so excited from Christmas and I love all the festive decorations and music and spirit that I am seeing around and It just makes me so happy :)
GSCE everything. I have loads of controlled assessments and coursework which is not fun, but hopefully it will be over soon.

At the moment, my Brandy Melville skirt, a bag top from H&M, Topshop chunky knit cardigan, black tights and slippers. I've been loving wearing skirts recently.
Hope you enjoyed this post. May the odds be ever in your favour :)

Not Cat Out The Bag, Cat On The Skirt.

||  Top - H&M       Skirt - H&M      Tights - New Look  ||
This post was meant to go up a while I go but I didn't get to around to taking the pictures, but better late than never :) This was the outfit I wore on my birthday (party) and I love it so much. The cat skirt has be around the blogger world quite a bit so I saw it and had to have it. Its super comfy and soft and I think it goes pretty well with the baggy top. Ta-dah!
Hope you all had a lovely week

Halloween Adventures

Top and Skirt - Primark   Tights - H&M     Shoes - Clarks (my school shoes)

I didn't have time to finish my pumpkin so he only has one side of whiskers :( Other than that I was pretty proud of him :)
I decided I was going to make a real effort with my costume this year and as a result I was quite happy with the results so I thought I would share  I dressed up as a kinda of creepy dead broken porcelain doll (or attempted to be) so I wore a black lace skirt and a black velvet-feel crop top and pale tights. For my face, I used a lot of white face paint as a base and then applied loads of mascara and a red lipstick and painted on the odd chip and crack (based on you tube tutorials). I back combed the top of my hair and frizzed it up a bit to make me look a bit creepier. Ta-dah!

I hope you all had a lovely Halloween!

Birthday Wishes

So on the 15th it was my birthday! I had a lovely day (even though I had to go to school :|) with all my friends and family and they made it really special and I got some lovely presents.
I got some requests to do a birthday haul both this year and last as I didn't do one, but I was a bit hesitant as I don't want to appear like I am showing of. But I love reading these and so do you so many of you so I wanted to do it. I am by no means bragging or showing off and I am very grateful for everything I was given. Here we are!

My main present was a sort of re-do of my room. I picked out this lovely bedding from Ikea a few weeks before my actual birthday and my mum kept it till the day. I think this bedding is super pwetty and I just love it. I also got some plain white Ikea curtains as well :). My parents also got me the owl chalk board and the cushion (it has tea on it...... ohmygosh) as little extras just to add to my room and I think they are just the cutest things ever.
I also got the A Beautiful Mess Photo Idea Book, which I am so happy about! This is the one thing I really wanted and when I unwrapped it I did a little happy dance! I haven't completely read it yet but it is so amazing and I really recommend it. And finally my parents got me the 2 Victoria's Secret Pink Scents. For those of you who don't live in the UK, this probably isn't a big deal but There's only one in England and I went to it a few weeks ago but didn't end up getting anything :( My mum must have sneakily bought these and they smell so good!

My Grandparents and other relatives were very generous and gave me lots of vouchers and a few other little bits and bobs but my most favourites were the Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Enchanted perfume and 1984 by George Orwell (can wait to read this!)

My friends were also overly generous and got be loads of lovely stuff (most notably 5 bars of chocolate!) but my favourites were Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell (this sounds so good!) Follow Me Down by Tanya Byrne, this lovely necklace from Topshop (which I saw in the shop before and said I loved :D) and these finger moustache temporary tattoos (are they not the coolest things you ever did see). My friend also made me a Chewbacca mask. I have the best friends.

If it was your birthday recently, I hope you had a lovely day and Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoyed this post :)

P.s Thank you to anyone who said Happy Birthday x

Lookbook: Grey Knit Jumper

Jeans - Topshop    Shirt - New Look
Skirt - Brandy Melville  Belt - Primark
Skirt - New Look   Scarf - M&S

I decided it was about time I did a sort of look book post and I decided to do it on one of my autumn essentials, my grey knitted Jumper from Forever 21 . The first look is super casual and comfy, a great look for every day and I love pairing collared shirts with chunky jumpers. The second is a great way to dress up this very casual item and I love tucking it into various printed skirts. The final one is a kind of in-the-middle out fit, not to dressy or casual, and It just makes me think of autumn with the colours and textures.

Hope you liked this post - Would you like me to do more look book style posts? Let me know :)

Top 5 Autumn Nail Polishes

So for the second in my autumn series, I thought I would discuss nail polish. I have a little bit of a problem with buying nail polish so I thought I was about time I did a nail polish post. And as its autumn I thought I would share my favourite fall colours I'm looking forward to wearing :D
L-R (little finger to thumb) - Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Lychee, Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blackberry, Barry M Raspberry, 17 Royal Indigo, No7 Totally Teal.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Lychee - This is a lovely nude which I think is nice for a more subtle, paler nail. Its super opaque as its one of the gelly shines and you only need one coat. Plus like most of my Barry M's, it doesn't chip for ages. I can't wait to wear this more and I think its a beautiful colour.
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blackberry - another of the amazing gelly shines and the colour is just perfect. For some reason I love dark blues and this is definitely my fav.
Barry M Raspberry - I have wanted to get my hands on this for ages and I finally bought it a few weeks ago. I love it. I just love it so much. I need say no more :)
17 Nail Polish Royal Indigo - I haven't used this in quite a while but I recently re-discovered it. I love the deep purple colour and I think it compliments loads of outfits. The formulation isn't as great as Barry M but its still pretty good and last quite a few days.
No7 Totally Teal - when I was first given this, I hated it. I hated how it looked in the bottle and thought it just wasn't my colour. However, I seem to really like it now. Its a lovely dark green colour and the pigmentation is surprisingly good. Its a bit more pricey but I think its worth it :)

So those are my top 5 :) I think my overall favourite is Blackberry. For some reason I just think its beautiful. What are your favourite fall colours?

Most Worn Summer Things Tag

So as its already or nearing the end of the summer for most of us, I thought I would do a sort of summer round up, in the form of the most worn summer things tag!
Most Worn Shoes - iPanema Flip Flops
This was very close between these and my sky-blue converse but I think I wore these more, especially near the beginning of the summer when it was a bit warmer. I mention these in a post a while back and I still love them so much as they are so comfy and go with everything.
Most Worn Bag - Gap Fringed Bag
I re-discovered this bag this summer and have fallen back in love with it. Its a little tattered but it still holds its shape and it fits everything I need in for the summer months.
Most Worn Nail Polish - Barry M Blue Moon
This seems to have been my go-to nail polish this summer. Its such a pretty pale blue and I just lurvve it. Plus Barry M is amazing as it doesn't chip for ages.
Most Worn Clothing Item - Pastel Pink Primark Shorts
I've worn these to death this summer - they are the perfect pastel summer colour and they are the perfect length, perfect fit and they go with so much. Could not live without these.
Most Worn Hair Product - Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protector
I am very disloyal when it comes to hair products - I hardly ever re-purchase the same ones as I'm always on the hunt for better but this is one I do repurchase. I makes you hair look healthy and shiny and protects really well.
Most Worn Scent - Gilly Hicks Velvet Cassia body spray
I prefer body spray to perfume in summer as its lighter and this has been my fav this year. I love this one - its very light, sweet and refreshing and have loved it.
Most Worn Face Product - Maybelline Super Stay Concealer
I've mention this before in a post and I still maintain its the best concealer ever. I haven't been wearing a lot on my face in the summer as I like lighter make up, but I use this everyday where I need it and its perfect.
Most Worn Eye Product - Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara
I was pleasantly surprised by this mascara after reading reviews. Its really good at separating and adding length and volume and I have been loving it all summer.
Most Worn Lip Product - This is a lovely red - tinted lip balm and I have worn it almost everyday. 'Nuff said.

So that's it! I hope you enjoyed this post and I tag all of my followers to do this!
Lots Of Love

few favourite moments of my blogging year
One year ago today, on the 20th of August 2012, I started this blog. I honestly didn't think I would keep doing it for a month, let a lone a year. And I have loved it.
I have learn so much through blogging, met so many lovely other bloggers, found so many new amazing blogs and had so much fun. I wouldn't change any of it and I'm so glad I started a blog.

Pink Aztecs

||    Top - Brandy Melville     Bandeau - Brandy Melville    Shorts - Primark   Nails - Barry M Silvery Lilac  ||
Another of my buys when I went to Brandy was this little Aztec slightly-cropped top, which I thought was quite cute. I've been meaning to include these shorts in a post for a while as I have lived in them this summer. Also, I think this is my new favourite nail polish - Barry M Silvery Lilac - its the prettiest, iridescent, holographic colour ever and it wasn't too expensive either :)
Apologies for the mess my blog has been and is going to be in for a while - I'm trying to change my blog design and get it just how I want it, which is taking long than I expected:( but ill get there! XD
Hope you are having a great summer (and those going back to school, its not to bad -_- )

Stay Weird.

||      Top - Brandy Melville    Skirt - Brandy Melville    Bandeau Top - Brandy Melville  ||
I've seen a lot of lovely clothes which US Youtubers and bloggers have got from Brandy Melville and I've always thought there were none in the UK. But I recently found out there was one in London and so last week when I was there, I popped in. And I came out with a few bits, these being some of them. I love them.
Hope you are all having a lovely summer
