Christmas Haul

I hope you all had a amazing Christmas!!!! I hope you all got amazing presents as well. I thought I'd do a little blog haul of a few of my favourite Christmas presents that my Friends and all my family gave me.

Here are some of my main and favourite presents (I have not included the little ones I got in my stocking)

Top to bottom, Left to right : Fat Face Star Print Snood, Jack Wills Purple Zip-Up Hoodie, Next Navy Reindeer Wellies, Miranda Hart Is It Just Me Autobiography, H&M Orange Deer Jumper, Wild And Wolf Purse, Nicky Clark The Next Generation Red Hair Straighteners, Achica Zeela Blue Owl Cushion, Hollister White Lace Long-Sleeved Blouse.
The book (which is very funny) and purse were from my amazing best friend and I love them so much. My previous hair straighteners were rubbish and my mum didn't believe me until she used mine, and therefore realised why I had been moaning. Consequently, she bought me a new pair. I have wanted a owl shaped cushion for ages but none really go with me bedroom. This one does. I love all of the clothes featured very much and want to wear them all the time. Th-end.

This post has gone up a little later than plan - sorry about that - but it is up all the same. I hope you guys all had a amazing Christmas. What amazing presents did you get??

Have a great new year!

Christmas Observations

Firstly the world did not end. YAY. but really, did anyone think it would? But still, we are all alive for Christmas. IT IS CHRISTMAS, LIKE, TOMORROW!!!!!!!

I have noticed over the years in my relatively short life so rather odd and bizarre things that happen at Christmas...............

1) At school on the last few days of term, you never actually do anything. You watch rubbish films and do quiz, which don't get me wrong is fun, but if you are going to do nothing at school, why come in in the first place? Frankly, I'd rather have a HP marathon at home than watching the first 40 minutes of some Disney film i can literally recited the lines from as we have watched it every year (I do like Disney, just i want to see the whole thing, not half of it). Pointless, I tell you, just pointless..........

2)When you are Christmas shopping, there is always that one person that takes the last one of the present you desperately need and you have to go and find another. Very annoying.

3) There is always someone that gets a present from a grandparent or someone that they are not entirely sure if they like it. You can see they are not sure because they act ten times happier than they would normally. Tip for you all - If you do this it is extremely obvious.

4) You can get away with a lot more than usual at Christmas. Just by saying 'But it's christmas', they are a lot more likely to say yes. Give it a go ...

5)There's always one person who cannot wrap up presents to save their life and you know who's present it is from the minute it gets put under the tree.

6) People get overly competitive. At my school, a fun Christmas quiz turns to full scale war. Also, there is always a fight over what television is watched on the day. I am often involved in this squabble, I must admit.

7) Pulling Crackers is a death trap

8)There is always one person who eats so much they feel sick and can't move.

I'll probably think of a few more the minute I post this but I can't think of any at this moment in time. Plus I am tired.

Merry Christmas! Have a great day! XD

Snow Is Falling, All Around You .......

I have a bit of a mixed post here for you today because I wanted to fit a lot in, so firstly IT IS ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF DAYS WHICH I CANT REMEMBER UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!. Here are some of my top Christmas tunes .....

Band Aid - Do They Know Its Christmas
Elton John - Step Into Christmas
Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You
Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody
The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love (I also like the Gabrielle Aplin version)
One of the best things about Christmas is the utterly unbelievably good TV that is one. Dr Who, Miranda, Outnumbered and 2 Merlin episodes in 3 days!! I have a sad, sad life I know......
Also, on Saturday, I saw The Hobbit!!
I've been waiting to see this since I saw there was going to be a film. I read the book, which was quite good but the film was amazing!! It had action, adventure, a little bit of sci-fi, just everything. Martin Freeman is the perfect hobbit and Cate Blanchett is really pretty. I Orcs were a little creepy but they were really realistic. The special effects were incredible! I wasn't expecting much as it must be hard to created not only fictional characters but the landscape and the Lonely Mountain but It look unbelievably realistic. If you like Lord Of The Rings (obviously), Dr Who or Harry Potter, I think this film is for you. The film did OK at the box office - it only made £52 million on its opening weekend!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a amazing film - you should really go and see it. Go now - this instant - Go!!!!! So yeah, a must-see film. I like it.
Also I need a new mascara as my current one decides halfway through the day that it doesn't like my eye-lashes and prefers my cheeks and therefore I look like a panda. I am not entirely sure what one to get. Any Recommendations??
Have a good week. I hope to post again before Christmas!!
RIP all those children in Connecticut.
With Love

The Christmas Tag

It's Christmas in case you have been living under a rock. I haven't done any Christmas posts but since it is now the mid-December i think it is about time i started to do some. Everyone has done the Christmas Tag so here is my version.

1. When do you start getting excited about Christmas?
Mid-November is when I start thinking about Christmas but I get excited on the 1st of December.

2. Do you still have advent calendars?
Yes. And I always will.

3. What are your favourite Christmas Films?
Love Actually, Elf, The Polar Express
4. Do you have any funny Christmas memories?
Not really many on Christmas day but I hundreds with my friends around the Christmas period. Most involve me air-singing Christmas songs at awkward moments and my friends telling me to shut up and that i look weird. A recent one was at my friend's birthday party and one of my friends (Yes Scarlett if you are reading i am talking about you) was sitting on the arm of the sofa and I literally just pushed her off and she didn't even try to stop herself and just fell flat on her face. When I tried to help her up, I was laughing so hard I fell over and ended up sitting on her. It was very funny. Rant over.

5. Take us through your typical Christmas Day?
It doesn't really change at all from year to year and I love it. I wake up and take my stoking into my parents and open it. then we get up and have breakfast, although not much, and then get dressed. My parents like to get dressed before we open our presents which is a bit annoying but I don't mind. Then we open presents. Then have Christmas dinner around 1-ish (we have it early-ish) and after we just watching the utterly amazing TV that is on at Christmas.

6. What do you eat for Christmas Dinner?
Turkey, Roast potatoes, parsnips and veg. Oh and pigs in blankets.
7. Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Not particularly - but I always open my stocking in my parents bedroom.

8. Which are your favourite Christmas songs?
ALL CHRISTMAS SONGS! When I hear Christmas songs i know its Christmas! My faves are (brace yourself):- All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey, Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin' Stevens, Step Into Christmas - Elton John, Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade .

9. What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
I don't know because I have had many amazing presents. I tend to like the little presents as much as the bigger ones.

10. Real or fake Christmas tree?
Fake, but I do really like real ones; they make the house smell really christmasy. But we have a fake one as they last longer and don't make as much mess.

I realise I ranted alot. Sorry. I will be doing a few more Christmas post but if you have any you would like to see, let me know! Merry Almost-Christmas!

Guess what??

I am rambling again  ...............
But you have said (through my poll, which is still open so go and vote!) that some of you like them and to be honest, I quite enjoy writing them.
As you may have noticed, the blog design has changed. I much prefer the new one as I think it is more 'me' . I makes me smile a lot more when I see it and I am also very proud of the fact that me , a techno novice, make a custom header!
I am sorry for my lack of blogging ... again. I have had many things to deal with in life this week but I have not forgotten. So I have a theory. I am going to post once a week defiantly from now on and if I have the time, which I hope to most weeks, post twice. Is this OK?
I've had a bit of a mind blank on what do do so I thought I would sort of do a post inspired by Stacey (I hope you don't mind!) from Life At A Glance, where she did a post on her favourite restaurants so I thought I would change it slightly and do my favourite places to eat in general. They are in no particular order because I love them all!

Wagamama has to be one of the most delicious places ever. For those of you that haven't lived, wagamama is as Asian, well they call it fast food but I don't think it is, restaurant which serves mainly noodle, rice and curry dishes. I love it!!
If I could I would live of pizza - it is my favourite food and Pizza Express is my favourite place to eat it. They serve pizza (funnily enough) and pasta and both are amazing ~licks lips~
Costa is amazing. Its a coffee shop-place but sells the most amazing lunchtime snacks, cakes and drinks. Sorry to all you Starbucks drinkers but I prefer Costa (I do still like Starbucks though)  I particularly love the Christmas stuff!
Pinkberry is very uncommon in the UK (there are 3 I think in Bluewater, Westfield Stratford and Selfridges but there maybe more) but from the few I have had, Pinkberry is one of the most amazing foods in the world. It's essentially frozen yogurt in a variety of flavours and you can put whatever toppings and sauces you want on it. Om Nom Nom!!
I feel I have to include some form of fast food and KFC is my favourite. I don't often have it but once in a while it is yum. this is my favourite of the fast food giants although I do like McDonald's chips!
I don't really know what purpose this post had but oh well your reading it so I posted it. Hope you enjoyed it

A Mixed Bunch ..........

Before anything else I would like to apologise. I have been a bad blogger once again. I have had many tests all week and have been revising like absolute mad. Thank god they're all done now. Rant over -onto the post.

This is a bit of a mixed post. Firstly, a song that I have fallen in love with. I heard this a couple of weeks ago and I is fast becoming one of my fav songs. It's Mcfly's new song , Love Is Easy. Its is soooo good!!

Also, Tonight is Children In Need! I do quite like all these TV charity thingys so I am a little excited. I have currently heard that there is a Doctor Who Special ~sqeee~ . I am a bit annoyed that my school didn't do anything but I bought a wristband (I am a bit of a one for wristband) and my family has given some money so I am happy I did my bit! So yeah, get donating!!
Also, I am considering doing a few blogy things in December. I am considering doing maybe a guest post week, competition, possibly the 30 day picture challenge or some kind of blog award/tag!! So let me know what you would prefer (I only want to post what people want to read)!

I gonna sign of as children in need is starting and I am soon to get a high school on a game on my Ipod!! Better post coming soon!!

Have a good evening!!

Helena's Reviews : Skyfall

On Sunday Night, I went to see the new James Bond film, Skyfall! Here are my thoughts.

I quite like James Bond but I prefer the old ones to the more recent ones. However, this one is different.
I'm not going to give much away about the plot because its quite hard to describe as a lot happens but basically, Bond has to save 'M' (Judi Dench) from Silva(bad guy).
I really, really liked this film! It was really exciting and full of action, adventure, a bit of romance and surprisingly a little bit of humour. I think that Daniel Craig is quite a good Bond but Javier Bardem is a amazing villain! I think one of the best things about the film was the special effects - they were incredible! Really realistic. I also loved the storyline. I wasn't the conventional storyline as I went a bit more into Bond's past but I thought it was good and not one of the storylines that you new what was coming next. I do think of the previous Bond films can be found quite scary but this isn't. As I said there is a lot of action but It's not scary action. But I think my favourite part was the slight touch of humour. Bond movies nower days tend to be very serious so I liked that there were a few funny bits. They bought back some things from very old films as well. There was a little bit of romance like all Bond films but It wasn't excessive - just right in my eyes.
I realised from reading what I wrote that I have given a really quite awful review, but this film is fantastic and even if you don't think you like James Bond, I recommend you go and see it.
Rating: 23/25

Happy Halloween

Just a quick post to say Happy Halloween!

I hope you all get loads of sweets and chocolate and eat until you feel sick and get scared out of you wits  (I hope you don't) and just have a good time.

I am going a Halloween Party to go to next week (which is a bit stupid because its after Halloween, but nevertheless, It will be fun ) - Yippee!. I am planning to go as a cat in pyjamas and my costume costume consists of pyjamas, a tail, whiskers drawn on with eyeliner and ears which I am going to attempt to copy a video and make them out of my own hair. I will take some pictures of my costume. I have a pair of back up ones just in case. I saw a Justin Bieber mask in Poundland the other day and was tempted to go as that. It would have been funny........ why didn't I buy it?

Anyway, I hope you have an amazing Halloween and I will be see you in the next post
Have a great night! (see what I did there?!)

Ma Semaine (Say this in a french accent) x

It's been a bit of a mixed week for me.

Plus side - ONE MORE DAY OF SCHOOL!! It has occurred to me that most other people in the blogosphere have had half term this week, but for me its next week. I am so excited - the thought of actually getting some decent sleep is soooo appealing.

Down side - when I go back to school, I have FIVE tests in one week, three in one day. I don't know about you but I would call this excessive. I have English, French, German, R.S and P.S.E (first aid - St johns ambulance thingy). Fun. Also, I have a cold.

I'd also like to let you know about a poll I am running - so go check it out on my side bar. Also, I a always want to post what people want to read, so if you want me to do a post of any sort, let me know!!

Have a great day

Helena's Reviews: The New Skulduggery Pleasant!

I've decided to do a review on the most recent book I read: Skulduggery Pleasant - Kingdom Of The Wicked!

This is the newest book in the Skulduggery Pleasant Series - a series about a skeleton detective and his 17 year old side kick Valkyrie Cain (Stephanie). I'm not going to give to much info on the rest  of the series so if you haven't read them, I suggest you do so as they are AMAZING!!

In this book, mortals (people without magic) are suddenly devoloping magical powers and nobody knows why. And then there's Kitana. A teenage girl who along with here friends becomes infected. Becomes powerful. Becomes corrupt. And not just with a small amount of magic .....

I really, really enjoyed reading this book. When my friend first lent my the book, I wasn't really that excited about it. I'd loved the series but for some reason I just wasn't excited about it. However, once I started reading it ........ well that was when it changed. This book is full of mystery and excitment, adventure and action and is a gripping novel. I loved every single page! I saw the return of many of the best characters, in loads of diffferent and unexpected ways. Its also quite a funny book considering the plot is quite dark; there is quite alot of sarcasm which lightens the mood and make it a more enjoyable . There are loads of twists and turns in the plot and its not one of those books where you can easily guess the end. My description above is based on the burb but the actual story is alot more than what it said. It was quite a suprising book but that was one of the best things about it. So basically ................. I LURVE THIS BOOK!!

I hope this has tempted you to read this book (you should)!!
I am currently reading the Medusa series and so far love it so there maybe a review soon ..........

Stand Up To Cancer!

This friday there is a new massive charity event hitting the UK - Stand Up To Cancer! As the name suggests, this event is all in aid of cancer charitys. It's a little bit like Children in Need or Sport Relief. This time Channel 4 and Cancer Research have joined forces to create one massive week of entertainment. There will be programmes through out the week with a final 'telethon' on the friday.

It was started in the US by Gweneth Paltrow and was massive over there. They raised £80 million in 1 hour! And now it has been bought to the UK!

My school is having a Mufti (Own Clothes) day in support of it which will be quite fun and I think we might be doing some other stuff as well.

I think this is a really great idea and I am really supporting it.

I stand up to cancer. Do you??

Whats in My Bag .....?

I like taking a little bag out with me as I always like to have my phone, some cash and a lipbalm! Here is what is in my bag :: ( I apologise for the rubbish photography, once again!!)

I also usually have a umbrella since it rains alot in the UK but its in my school bag at the moment! Current lip balm is from the body shop and it smells divine; Hand sanitiser is always useful and the pink flowery pouch has everything a girl needs from tissues to plasters!! My purse is from Primark ( I practically live in that shop!) and I love it!!
Have a great day!
